Jambika Docs licenses Her Name is Nanny Nellie to Al Jazeera English | From Realscreen.

Barcelona-headquartered sales agent Jambika Docs has announced that the feature documentary Her Name is Nanny Nellie has been acquired globally by Al Jazeera English for its ‘Witness’ documentary strand. The film will have its world premiere on April 16, and will also be broadcast on Al Jazeera’s Balkans channel.
The doc (pictured) follows the journey of filmmaker Daniel King’s mother as she explores the life of her great-grandmother, Nellie Walker — who was immortalized as a statue commissioned by the Australian Museum in 1925 of a “full blood” Aboriginal woman — and tracks down the descendants of the man and boy who served as the models for the other statues, as they all seek to honor their ancestors.
“At a time when the reclamation of Indigenous histories is more important than ever, this documentary by Australian Aboriginal filmmaker Daniel King offers a rare and profound insight into his family’s fight to restore truth and dignity,” said Jackie Murphy, senior acquisitions producer for ‘Witness,’ in a release. “We are honored to bring this remarkable story from Jambika Docs to Al Jazeera’s international audience.”
