Poster Boy: Becoming Zyzz

FILM DETAILS

TRAILER

An awkward teenager with something to prove. A bodybuilding forum. A blueprint for reinvention with no rulebook to follow. Aziz Shavershian transformed himself into Zyzz, a hyper-masculine cult fitness icon whose image spread across borders to inspire millions worldwide, one of the first true global icons of internet culture. His fame was as instant as it was extraordinary, captured in a vast volume of personal footage and testimony that now exists as a rare, intimate record of a phenomenon most influencers only perform. Then, at 22, it was dramatically over.

Poster Boy traces that transformation through never-before-seen archival footage, private family material and intimate testimony from the people who lived it, including his brother Said Shavershian, whose own career in professional bodybuilding carries the legacy forward at enormous personal cost. The film goes behind the myth: body obsession, performance-enhancing drugs, and a young man navigating a persona bigger than anyone had a map for.

For the first time, it also revisits Zyzz’s final days with clarity, drawing on previously unreleased material, including official documents. His image endures worldwide, the blueprint behind looksmaxxing culture and the manosphere. The story reads as a warning for a new generation, echoing recent cases within that same culture today. Poster Boy asks what it costs to become unforgettable.

“What I would give to be able to have a conversation with him.”
